sore throat pain relief
Sore throats can be caused by many different factors, the most common cause is an infection caused by virus or bacteria. Sore throats can also be caused by smoking or allergic reactions.
You do not need to take over the counter drugs with unwanted side effects for a sore throat. Natural remedies are best to try first of all.
Gargling with saltwater
I recommend gargling using the pink Himalayan salts as a fast effective way to clear phlegm and reduce infection. Use half a teaspoon in a mug of warm water, gargle and swill around your teeth before spitting out. It is good to do this 4 times a day.
Gargling with baking soda
Baking soda is alkaline and you can follow the same procedure as using salt above.
Eucalyptus oil vaporiser
Often a cold is accompanied by a sore throat, a Eucalyptus oil vaporiser will help you breathe more easily as well as adding water vapour the air if your room is very dry. Moist air helps soothe a sore throat. If you do not have a vaporiser then you can place a bowl of water on a radiator with drops of eucalyptus oil added.
Have a break from smoking
Smoking can make your sore throat worse, so why not have a break from smoking whilst your sore throat clears up. You may even feel like staying as a non smoker and save allot of cash!
Replace your toothbrush
Old toothbrushes can be full of bacteria causing illness and disease, keep you toothbrush clean and fresh by regularly bleaching it.
Vitamins and minerals
Your immune system maybe low, ie your white blood cells can be sluggish or deficient. So pep your system with one gramme of vitamin c a day. Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, cutting out acid forming foods.
Lemon and honey
This is an old traditional remedy. Add fresh lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey to a mug of hot water. You can even add some whisky or brandy if you bare not driving. Sip throughout the day to soothe your throat.
